Don't Let Him Hit is an inspirational short story based on the author's experiences as a young Black kid growing up in a housing project in the deep South during the 1950's. Family and friends affectionately call him June Bug. At the tender age of 12, he has a deep passion for baseball, his family, his neighborhood and the team. Don't Let him Hit chronicles the highs and lows of a little league baseball player struggling with his identity and his desire to help his team win their first ever championship. He is easily intimidated not only by his view of the opposing team, but also by how much his own team depends on him. The psychological impact of a slump can be disastrous or it can be a motivating force. June Bug is faced with the challenge of overcoming these obstacles at a crucial moment in the game.
